Raytheon Software Systems Engineer - Onsite internship to support design, development, and utilization of medium-fidelity digital simulation software in advanced technical computing environments to answer operational questions about military systems, technologies, and strategies.

Requirements

  • Academic experience of modeling and simulation, or related disciplines.
  • Coursework or demonstrated experience in at least two of the following areas: Software development processes/object-oriented software design.
  • Scripting languages such as Python, Shell or Perl.
  • Numerical computing environments such as MATLAB.
  • AI/ML and high-performance computing (HPC) grids.

Responsibilities

  • support design, development, and utilization of medium-fidelity digital simulation software in advanced technical computing environments.
  • contribute to evaluating intern-level appropriate work across a wide range of intriguing problems to answer operational questions such as: What should the next military system-of-systems look like?
  • What is the effectiveness of new technologies against large-force adversary and multiple threats?
  • What counter-measures should be considered to increase efficiency and/or improve survivability, and what are the answers to the customer’s operational performance questions?
  • What numbers and costs get the best performance?
  • contribute to mission-level system modeling and data analysis activities to support new business, system-of-systems design, and operational impacts of new concepts of operations.
  • support and build Mod Sim software and analyze results to influence the product lifecycle.

Other

  • Must be a rising Junior by the start of Summer 2026 majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA is required.
  • Knowledge of the system engineering life-cycle model.
  • Completion of at least one course in data analysis and/or statistics.
  • Demonstrated desire to work with a high performing team.
