Schonfeld is looking to solve business and technical challenges across its technology division by hiring interns who can contribute to the development and maintenance of critical financial applications and platforms, including shadow accounting, post-trade operations, and treasury systems.

Requirements

  • Interest and experience in a programming language; various languages will be considered such as C++, Java, Python etc.
  • Some basic knowledge of Git, and databases.
  • Demonstrated software engineering skills from previous internships, coding competitions, or publications.
  • High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Interest in Capital Markets or Finance.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside senior developers writing software that will improve the functionality, performance, stability, efficiency and scalability of the research and trading platform.
  • Design, develop, deploy and support existing applications as well as new features and platforms.
  • Participate in an Agile framework, continuously improving and expanding platform capabilities.
  • Be assigned summer-long projects directly related to the work of the team you are assigned to, which you will present on at the completion of the program.
  • Support the maintenance of the shadow accounting book of records running on Geneva and the corresponding data warehouse.
  • Create a platform that serves as the golden data source for post-trade operational data – transaction capture, near real-time positions, start-of-day position, end-of-day position, trades, executions and P&L.
  • Deliver advanced systems for securities lending, financing, repo trading, FX hedging, collateral management, and margin optimization.

  • A student pursuing a degree in a technical or quantitative field.
  • Strong interest in taking ownership of his/her work.
  • Previous financial industry experience although it is not required.
  • An advanced degree in a quantitative or technical field.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, teamwork-oriented environment.
