Norfolk Southern's Communications & Signals (C&S) department needs to analyze and visualize big data to support decision-making and problem-solving across operations, particularly concerning the safety-critical Positive Train Control (PTC) system.
Requirements
- Experience with data warehouses such as Microsoft SQL Server or Databricks
- Skills in data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau
- Proficiency in SQL
Responsibilities
- Contribute to in-depth analysis and data visualization projects
- Support decision making and problem solving across our operations
- Work with real world big data
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders
- Design, develop, and maintain critical systems such as trackside signals, switch controls, locomotive-based technologies, and the wireless communication infrastructure that connects them
- Focus on Positive Train Control (PTC), a safety-critical system that helps prevent train collisions, derailments, and other operational hazards by automatically controlling train movements when necessary
