Spirit AeroSystems is looking to solve business and technical problems in the aerospace industry by designing and building large structural parts for commercial aircraft and defense programs.
Requirements
- Knowledge of engineering and scientific principles
- Knowledge of scientific methods and tools
- Knowledge of aerospace mechanical/structural component fabrication and assembly processes and technologies
- Knowledge of materials and processes
- Knowledge of chemistry, physics, and material behavior
- Experience with 3D Modeling software and Weights applications
- Knowledge of inertia and flight loads, materials and processes, standards, and manufacturing techniques
Responsibilities
- Research, develop, analyze, design and test company products using engineering and scientific principles
- Translate engineering and scientific concepts from preliminary ideas through product life cycle
- Research and develop material and processes that support the translation from abstract concepts to functional products and processes
- Apply knowledge of scientific methods and tools to define and characterize behavior of products, services, and processes
- Integrate technical, cost, value, and safety considerations into the product or process definition to comply with customer, regulatory, and company requirements
- Document results in drawings, data sets, reports, specifications, and supporting data
- Utilize 3D Modeling software and Weights applications to compute and document mass property data for an aircraft

- You must be a US Person (US Citizen or US Permanent Resident)
- You must be enrolled full-time in a university degree program aligned to the area of internship
- You must be a current sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student in good academic standing
- Must be willing to participate in multiple manufacturing plant tours, professional development workshops, and social/networking events
- Must be able to work within an Integrated Product Team
