Spirit AeroSystems is looking to solve business and technical problems in the aerospace industry by designing and building large structural parts for commercial aircraft and defense programs.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of engineering and scientific principles
  • Knowledge of scientific methods and tools
  • Knowledge of aerospace mechanical/structural component fabrication and assembly processes and technologies
  • Knowledge of materials and processes
  • Knowledge of chemistry, physics, and material behavior
  • Experience with 3D Modeling software and Weights applications
  • Knowledge of inertia and flight loads, materials and processes, standards, and manufacturing techniques

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, analyze, design and test company products using engineering and scientific principles
  • Translate engineering and scientific concepts from preliminary ideas through product life cycle
  • Research and develop material and processes that support the translation from abstract concepts to functional products and processes
  • Apply knowledge of scientific methods and tools to define and characterize behavior of products, services, and processes
  • Integrate technical, cost, value, and safety considerations into the product or process definition to comply with customer, regulatory, and company requirements
  • Document results in drawings, data sets, reports, specifications, and supporting data
  • Utilize 3D Modeling software and Weights applications to compute and document mass property data for an aircraft

  • You must be a US Person (US Citizen or US Permanent Resident)
  • You must be enrolled full-time in a university degree program aligned to the area of internship
  • You must be a current sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student in good academic standing
  • Must be willing to participate in multiple manufacturing plant tours, professional development workshops, and social/networking events
  • Must be able to work within an Integrated Product Team
