The State of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is looking to solve the problem of developing, modifying, and updating instructional program activities for the Corrections Training Academy, ensuring compliance with policies and agency standards.
Requirements
- Requires thorough knowledge of training development and presentations
- Must be certified OPOTA Trainer per Ohio Administrative Code 109:2-1-06 for positions assigned to train in Adult Parole Authority (APA) Firearm certification/re-certification
- Knowledge of ONBASE
- Experience with curriculum development
- Experience with training program planning
- Experience with instructional design
- Experience with adult learning principles
Responsibilities
- Assesses designs, develops, implements and evaluates departmental training programs for assigned unit to ensure compliance with policies and agency standards
- Attends, instructs and coordinates department training (e.g., Firearms, Defensive Tactics Subject Control, (DTSC), Cardio Pulmonary (CPR) and Oleoresin Capsicum (OC)) and other program areas as assigned
- Manages curriculum development projects to include overseeing the work of Subject Matter Experts and personnel assigned to work on curriculum design teams
- Develops orientation training programs; develops, coordinates, implements and evaluates supplemental programs (e.g., coaches training)
- Creates and run various administrative reports
- Inputs data into ONBASE
- Conducts regional training in the field at public and private prisons
- Investigate allegations of violations of rules, regulations, policies and procedures

- 48 mos. exp. in delivery of training or instructional programs commensurate with area to be assigned based on approved Position Description on file
- Must pass pre-employment drug testing
- Must pass pre-employment background investigation
- Must not have engaged in sexual abuse in a prison or other confinement facility
- Must not have been convicted of soliciting or providing support for an act of terrorism
