Requirements
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-882, DO-178 and DO-254
- Experience with safety analysis techniques, including FMEA, FTA, and hazard analysis
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++
- Familiarity with software development tools and methodologies
- Strong knowledge of software safety standards and regulations
- Proficiency in software safety verification and validation techniques
- Experience in leading safety-critical software projects
Responsibilities
- Support the design and development of safety-critical software systems, ensuring compliance with relevant safety standards
- Conduct safety assessments and hazard analyses of software systems
- Develop and implement safety requirements and guidelines for software development
- Collaborate with software engineers to ensure safety considerations are integrated into the software development lifecycle
- Perform safety verification and validation activities to ensure compliance with safety standards
- Participate in verification reviews and design reviews, providing recommendations for improving software safety
- Perform the following assessments and reviews: SSA – System Safety Assessment, SAR – Safety Assessment Report, FHA – Functional Hazard Analysis, SwHA – Software Hazard Analysis, SwFMEA – Software Failure Mode Effects Analysis, FTA – Fault Tree Analysis, Reliability Predictions, LOR Table – Level of Rigor
Other
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as computer science, software engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in software safety engineering or a related field
- U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
