IBM Research is looking to solve the problem of advancing AI methods for scientific applications, including developing AI foundation models for science in collaboration with NASA and the European Space Agency
Requirements
- Strong foundation in mathematics and algorithms with the ability to reason about complex dynamic systems
- Experience with AI/ML model design and training
- Proficiency in Python and modern deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch)
- Experience working with large, complex datasets and high-performance computing environments
- Background in developing and implementing new AI methods, such as extending context length in vision models, improving memory efficiency, effective model distillation or enhancing structural awareness in dynamic system modeling
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of large-scale AI models and algorithms for applications across scientific domains
- Build and evaluate research prototypes that advance AI methods for scientific applications while maintaining adherence to domain physics
