The AI Application Developer at Savannah River National Laboratory Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) will design, build, and deploy artificial (AI) models that improve business operations and decision-making. This role focuses on developing practical AI and machine learning solutions that streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and provide actionable insights across the laboratory’s operational landscape.
Requirements
- Proficiency with AI/ML concepts and common tools (e.g. Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
- Strong understanding of data preparation, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
- Knowledge of MLOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Ability to work with APIs and integrate AI models into applications or workflows.
- Familiarity with cloud-based AI/ML environments (Azure AI Foundry, AWS SageMaker, GCP Vertex AI).
- Experience with natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, or predictive analytics.
- Apply MLOps practices for model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement AI/ML models that support and optimize SRNL’s business operations.
- Translate business challenges into data-driven AI solutions.
- Ensure models are developed with scalability, security, and compliance in mind.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver usable, integrated AI applications.
- Support SRNL’s broader AI strategy by building repeatable, sustainable AI development practices.
- Develop, train, and validate AI/ML models tailored to business and operational use cases.
- Integrate AI models into applications, workflows, and enterprise systems.

- 4-6 years of experience in AI/ML model development or application development.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required
- Familiarity with DOE, government, or other regulated IT environments.
