UPS is undergoing a digital transformation and is investing heavily in AI to drive innovation and operational excellence. The AI Architect will design and oversee the development of robust, scalable, and secure AI systems that align with UPS’s strategic business and technology goals.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++.
- Strong experience with machine learning frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn.
- Expertise in MLOps and orchestration tools: Docker, Kubernetes, MLflow, Kubeflow.
- Deep understanding of cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, with experience in their AI/ML services.
- Experience with big data tools (e.g., Apache Spark, Kafka) and building scalable data pipelines.
- Strong understanding of GPU architecture, resource provisioning, and performance tuning for AI workloads.
- Experience in AI/ML solution architecture.
Responsibilities
- Design and architect end-to-end AI and machine learning solutions, agentic AI including data pipelines, model training environments, and deployment strategies.
- Define and maintain the AI architecture roadmap aligned with UPS’s digital transformation objectives.
- Evaluate and select AI frameworks, platforms, and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, IBM WatsonX, Vertex AI, Azure OpenAI).
- Serve as a key contributor to the AI Center of Excellence (COE), helping to implement enterprise-wide AI, standards, and reusable assets.
- Lead implementation and integration of AI platform capabilities across IBM WatsonX, Google Vertex AI, and Azure AI Foundry to support scalable model development and deployment.
- Partner with platform engineering teams to onboard applications, configure environments, and optimize infrastructure for AI workloads.
- Assess and recommend cloud resource configurations including GPU, VCPU, and memory requirements for AI workloads.

- Translate complex business needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Mentor technical teams, and enforce best practices in model governance, MLOps, and responsible AI.
- Act as a solution consultant to internal stakeholders, guiding the adoption and optimization of AI platforms and infrastructure.
