UPS is investing heavily in AI to drive innovation and operational excellence as part of its digital transformation journey, and this role is intended to design and oversee the development of robust, scalable, and secure AI systems that align with UPS’s strategic business and technology goals.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++.
- Strong experience with machine learning frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn.
- Expertise in MLOps and orchestration tools: Docker, Kubernetes, MLflow, Kubeflow.
- Deep understanding of cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, with experience in their AI/ML services.
- Experience with big data tools (e.g., Apache Spark, Kafka) and building scalable data pipelines.
- Strong understanding of GPU architecture, resource provisioning, and performance tuning for AI workloads.
- Experience with AI/ML solution architecture
Responsibilities
- Design and architect end-to-end AI and machine learning solutions, agentic AI including data pipelines, model training environments, and deployment strategies.
- Define and maintain the AI architecture roadmap aligned with UPS’s digital transformation objectives.
- Evaluate and select AI frameworks, platforms, and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, IBM WatsonX, Vertex AI, Azure OpenAI).
- Lead implementation and integration of AI platform capabilities across IBM WatsonX, Google Vertex AI, and Azure AI Foundry to support scalable model development and deployment.
- Assess and recommend cloud resource configurations including GPU, VCPU, and memory requirements for AI workloads.
- Develop and enforce best practices for code quality, reproducibility, model governance, and MLOps workflows using tools like MLflow, Kubeflow, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Ensure responsible AI practices, including fairness, explainability, and compliance with ISO 42001, NIST AI RMF, GDPR, and CCPA.
Other
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of experience in enterprise software development or architecture.
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in AI/ML solution architecture.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.
