Chord Energy is looking to leverage exploratory data analytics, machine learning models, and generative AI to support business opportunities, drive innovation, and optimize operational outcomes through a data science transformation.
Requirements
- Hands-on expertise with ML frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, mlflow), and automated MLOps tooling on major clouds.
- 7+ years across two or more disciplines such as AI/ML engineering, solutions architecture, cloud development or data engineering.
- Familiarity with additional programming languages (SQL, R, C++, etc.).
- Exposure to Petroleum Engineering and Geoscience workflows.
- Exposure to the energy sector, particularly unconventional exploitation programs.
Responsibilities
- Leading and participating in multi-disciplinary projects aimed at providing business solutions to a diverse set of problems ranging from, but not limited to, production automation/optimization, drilling and completion process optimization, back-office process improvement and automation, dashboard generation and deployment, and computer vision aided operations.
- Contributing to the adoption of new technologies and best practices for analytical workflows.
- Translating complex business objectives into scalable technical designs.
- Hands-on expertise with ML frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, mlflow), and automated MLOps tooling on major clouds.
- Communicating technical designs to both executives and engineers.
- Supporting business opportunities through the use of exploratory data analytics, machine learning models and generative AI opportunities.

- Previous experience in upstream oil and gas with independent E&P companies.
- Proven ability to translate complex business objectives into scalable technical designs and to communicate those designs to both executives and engineers.
