The Defense Cyber Operations program is looking to solve advanced cybersecurity research and prototyping efforts through AI/ML-driven tools that support threat detection, data enrichment, and automation within DoD environments.
Requirements
- Foundational experience with Python, C++, and Java programming languages.
- Familiarity with basic ML workflows (data cleaning, model training, evaluation)
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, development, and evaluation of AI/ML models for cybersecurity use cases such as threat detection, anomaly detection, and data classification.
- Contribute to data preparation and preprocessing and support the integration of models into broader data pipelines using tools such as Jupyter Notebooks, Elastic, and GitLab.
- Collaborate with engineers across cloud, cybersecurity, and AI disciplines to align technical implementations with the architectural goals of the program.
- Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and technical discussions within a SAFe Agile environment.
- Document code, testing procedures, and model outputs; develop technical diagrams and summaries to support traceability, reproducibility, and compliance with DoD standards.
- Conduct research on emerging AI/ML frameworks and academic literature to inform development decisions and innovation.
- Support the creation of data visualizations that communicate AI/ML performance metrics and cybersecurity insights.
Other
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, disability, veteran status, age, genetic information, or other legally protected status.
