Morgan Lewis is seeking an Applied Scientist to design, develop, and optimize AI solutions to enhance the practice and business of law.
Requirements
- Proficiency with machine learning frameworks, NLP techniques, and modern AI models (especially LLMs); familiarity with cloud platforms and on-prem setups.
- Intermediate Python and SQL required; JavaScript or other frontend experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Full-Stack Prototyping: Build simple demos and proof-of-concept applications that showcase the value of AI tools to internal clients and firm leadership.
- Model Development: Train and evaluate machine learning models, including fine-tuning large language models (LLMs), using state-of-the-art architectures in both cloud and on-prem environments.
- Opportunity Scoping & Solution Design: Translate ambiguous business and legal challenges into clearly defined technical problem statements and targeted AI solutions.
- AI Systems Architecture: Design secure, scalable AI infrastructure, including pipelines for natural language processing, automation, and decision-support tools tailored to legal workflows.

- Minimum of 1 year of experience in AI, machine learning, or software development, with demonstrated success in translating technical work into real-world solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally and distill complex concepts for diverse audiences.
- Passion for AI, a strong sense of curiosity, and the drive to explore what's next.
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science, AI, data science, engineering, or a related field.
