UST is looking to solve business problems through the power of technology, specifically by developing Generative and Agentic AI solutions, and is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to contribute to this effort.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python with familiarity in key libraries like Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
- Academic or project-based experience with machine learning or deep learning (e.g., coursework, capstone projects, research).
- Exposure to LLMs and frameworks like Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain, or LlamaIndex (via internships, projects, or personal experimentation).
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a willingness to learn and iterate.
- Internship or project experience involving LLMs, RAG, or agent-based systems.
- Familiarity with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience using or experimenting with vector databases (e.g., ChromaDB, Pinecone, Weaviate).
Responsibilities
- Hands-On AI Development: Assist in building, testing, and refining AI-powered solutions using LLMs and modern frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, and Crew AI.
- Prototype & Experiment: Work alongside senior engineers to design and prototype Generative AI features, focusing on usability, performance, and scalability.
- RAG Pipelines: Contribute to the implementation and testing of retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, exploring techniques like hybrid search and query transformation.
- Prompt Engineering: Learn and apply prompt design strategies (e.g., few-shot, chain-of-thought) to improve LLM outputs in real-world scenarios.
- Backend Integration: Support the development of backend services (FastAPI, Flask) that serve AI models and integrate with enterprise systems.
- Cloud Platform Exposure: Gain hands-on experience working with cloud AI services like Vertex AI, Azure AI Studio, or AWS Bedrock.
- Continuous Learning: Stay current with the latest developments in AI/ML and actively participate in team knowledge-sharing sessions.
Other
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (completed within the past 0–1 years).
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
- Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty.
- UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
- All US employees who work in a state or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
