The National Library of Medicine (NLM) Office of Computer and Communications Systems (OCCS) is seeking an enthusiastic AI/ML Fresher to join our team to work on cutting-edge projects that leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance biomedical information systems.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in Python programming and familiarity with libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn, etc.
- Experience with machine learning concepts (classification, regression, clustering) and practical implementation.
- Exposure to NLP techniques and libraries (ex: NLTK, spaCy, Hugging Face Transformers).
- Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and version control (Git).
- Familiarity with AWS cloud platforms and containerization (Docker).
- Understanding of RESTful APIs and web application integration.
- Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and deploying AI/ML models for biomedical data processing and search optimization.
- Support natural language processing (NLP) tasks, including entity recognition and semantic search.
- Work on data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation under guidance from senior team members.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI components into existing applications and APIs.
- Document workflows, maintain code repositories, and contribute to testing and validation efforts.
Other
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Minimum TWO (2)+ years of professional experience preferably in AI/ML development or related software engineering role.
- Must be eligible for a Public Trust clearance and complete federal background screening.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn new technologies.
