Siemens Foundational Technology Research and Pre-Development is looking to develop next-generation AI/ML solutions and intelligent system architectures to support strategic priorities in electrification, energy efficiency, and sustainability by applying AI/ML techniques to engineering challenges in design, manufacturing, and simulation.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of research experience applying AI/ML techniques to engineering applications, including design, manufacturing, and simulation.
- At least 2 years of experience in decision-making methodologies, such as reinforcement learning and AI planning.
- Proven domain expertise in one or more of the following: Electrical Design, Mechanical Design, or Systems Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with graph-structured data and associated algorithms for representation, analysis, and learning.
- Proficiency in Python, with practical knowledge of deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
- Experience with large-scale reasoning models, particularly those capable of operating across multiple modalities such as text, code, and graph data, is considered an asset.
- Minimum 4+ years of research experience applying AI/ML techniques to engineering applications, including design, manufacturing, and simulation.
Responsibilities
- Apply AI/ML techniques to engineering challenges in design, manufacturing, and simulation.
- Design and develop knowledge synthesis and reasoning frameworks for complex industrial systems.
- Contribute to the development of autonomous decision-making agents operating in dynamic and uncertain environments.
- Collaborate on fast-paced co-creation projects with evolving requirements, particularly in the areas of program analysis and synthesis.
- Engage in low Technology Readiness Level (TRL) research initiatives, exploring novel AI/ML concepts and methodologies.
- Build prototypes and proof-of-concept systems to validate research hypotheses and demonstrate feasibility.
- Develop technology demonstrators and support the transition of innovations into business units.
Other
- PhD graduate in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related disciplines.
- Minimum of 2 years of research or development experience in industrial area, including doctoral-level research.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
- Excellent command of English, with demonstrated ability in technical writing, documentation, and collaboration within multidisciplinary research environments.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
