Apple's AIML team is seeking an Engineering Program Manager to manage its ML Compute platform, which provides efficient and scalable compute and processing for the machine learning lifecycle across Apple's consumer ecosystem. The role involves overseeing capacity expansions, compute buildouts, accelerator hardware strategy, and evaluating new accelerators to ensure optimal price/performance and capacity readiness for Apple-scale AI.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle, from data collection, data/model lineage to model monitoring, including MLOps tools and techniques.
- Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and large-scale projects, ideally in Data, ML/AI or software engineering contexts.
- Familiarity or experience with MLOps frameworks and tools (e.g., Kubernetes, MLflow, Weights and Biases, vertex AI and so on).
- Familiarity with cloud-based ML platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and model deployment strategies.
- Background in Data, AI/ML, data science, or software development is a plus.
- Ability to drive initiatives in fast-paced environments, balancing competing priorities and managing ambiguity.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and risk management abilities, with experience in agile methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing capacity expansions, compute buildouts, and accelerator hardware strategy.
- Driving efforts that evaluate new accelerators, deliver optimal price/performance compute solutions, and ensure capacity readiness for Apple-scale AI.
- Identifying new technologies for adoption and acting as the central PM voice for interactions with public cloud providers, such as AWS and GCP, as well as internal Apple Cloud.
- Collaborate with the Apple’s AIML engineering teams to define a partnership strategy across the entire ML ecosystem including 3rd party public cloud, Apple’s internal cloud, silicon vendors, and OSS providers
- Translate the product/program requirements to technical use cases helping to see around corners enabling risk mitigation for engineering execution through creating partnership roadmap for delivery.
- Define new computing modalities using resources native to the cloud and take that vision to market in collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Support Engineering with use cases, platform architecture, software stack, and the total solution value proposition for ML Compute needs.

- 10+ years of program management experience, with at least 5 years leading complex, technical programs in machine learning or data-driven environments.
