Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced Autonomy and Artificial Intelligence (A/AI) Research Engineer to support various contracts and IRADs within Missiles and Fire Control, to design, implement, and test Deep Learning object detection and classification solutions and image processing and augmentation methods for missile and fire control products

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to perform one or more of the following AI/ML assignments based on professional experience: Train and inference on modern deep learning neural networks for object detection and classification and analyze results
  • Intermediate to expert level experience in one or more of the following languages: Python, C++, MATLAB
  • Experience in using one or more of the following AI/ML tools: RAG-Based Systems, PYTorch, Agentic AI Systems, AFSIM
  • Algorithm development and analysis experience in artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Algorithm Development
  • Experience using foundational models developed by the Lockheed Martin AI Factory / Genesis
  • Experience developing and analyzing algorithms related to resolved and unresolved target detection, tracking and discrimination
  • Understanding of basic Tracking, EO and pattern recognition/machine learning concepts

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and test Deep Learning object detection and classification solutions and image processing and augmentation methods for missile and fire control products
  • Develop, verify, and validate both complex models and simulations that utilize convolutional neural networks, transformers, generative AI, and other such techniques to detect and classify objects of interest
  • Deploy AI/ML algorithms to CPUs, GPUs or edge devices
  • Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements
  • Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities that support ground and flight test efforts including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities
  • Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers

Other

  • Candidate must have a BS degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, applied mathematics, or similar
  • Must hold an Active Top Secret clearance
  • US Citizen for consideration
  • Ability to work onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility
  • 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week schedule
