Vertiv is looking to solve the problem of inconsistent and unclear API documentation across its edge, gateway, and platform APIs. The goal is to create a centralized, discoverable, and user-friendly API documentation experience for both internal and external developers, bridging the gap between engineering output and developer usability.
Requirements
- 3+ years documenting RESTful APIs and managing developer portals or platforms.
- Strong experience working with OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman, and version control tools (e.g., GitHub).
- Familiarity with publishing workflows and structured documentation strategies.
- Familiarity with non-REST APIs, such as GraphQL, gRPC, or event-driven models (AsyncAPI).
- Basic understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for portal customization.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement a unified API developer portal using platforms such as SwaggerHub, Redoc, or GitHub Pages—supporting modular documentation aligned with product and domain-specific API subsets.
- Write, maintain, and publish OpenAPI specifications, usage tutorials, onboarding guides, and integration how-tos for internal and external developers.
- Establish and enforce documentation style guides, reusable templates, and governance checklists to ensure API documentation across teams remains consistent, compliant, and up-to-date.
- Enable real-time testing via "Try It Out" API consoles, SDK generation, and build sample applications or Postman collections to accelerate adoption and integration.
- Actively engage with developers and internal stakeholders to collect feedback, track documentation pain points, and continuously evolve the portal and content experience.
Other
- Excellent writing and visual communication skills tailored for technical audiences.
- Ability to collaborate closely with engineers to extract and articulate accurate technical details.
