SMBC Group is seeking a Data Engineer / SQL Developer to design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and SQL-based solutions to support business intelligence, analytics, and operational reporting, ensuring data quality and efficient usage of internally developed tools.
Requirements
- Strong expertise in MS SQL Server: advanced querying, stored procedures, performance tuning, and data modeling.
- Proficient in Python for data processing, automation, and scripting.
- Solid understanding of ETL development, maintenance, and optimization.
- Experience with Data Warehousing concepts, including Star Schema, Fact and Dimension tables.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Data Factory
- Knowledge of Azure Fundamentals and cloud-native data engineering practices.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps is a plus.
Responsibilities

- Provide high-quality systems support to operations and finance teams, ensuring efficient and accurate usage of internally developed tools and reports.
- Develop and maintain tools to improve data quality across Leasing Finance systems and ensure accuracy in downstream data feeds and processes.
- Analyze impact of reported service issues and quickly develop remediation plans.
- Implement deployment of application code changes and upgrades to both testing and production environments.
- Create and manage reporting tools, log collection and maintenance scripts to ensure seamless operation of application, proactive issue identification and data extraction.
- Exhibit mastery with Querying and reporting tools, incident management and issue analysis to improve support procedures and methods.
