ABB is seeking an Application Engineer to provide technical support for their Large Motors and Generators (LMG) products within the Motion Business (MOLM-US). The role involves processing customer inquiries, orders, and RFPs, and preparing motor designs using specialized software and technical knowledge. The engineer will act as a technical resource for customers and collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and improve the effectiveness of the sales support unit.
Requirements
- 2+ years’ experience involving AC Induction motors, generators or industrial products.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries from, and effectively present information to customers, vendors, management and other employees of the organization.
- Experience supporting technical industrial or drives sales teams.
Responsibilities
- Processes customer inquiries, orders, and requests for proposals (RFP).
- Prepares a motor design by using PC software and product technical knowledge.
- Offering technical advice and solutions on inquiries from customers/channels/Sales Specialists about ABB products/systems/applications, orders quotes and proposals that fit customer needs.
- Perform technical tasks to design a motor in accordance with the customer requirements, ensuring that the solution is the most cost effective.
- Act as a technical resource in person or over the phone to customer for addressing, interpreting and resolving of technical inquiries and problems related to assigned product lines or/and regions.
- Proactively engages in initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the LSU and to increase customer satisfaction.

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a 4-year degree in a STEM, Business related field.
