Waystar is looking for an Application Engineer to design, build, and implement web applications and back-end services for their internal customers, with a focus on cloud-based components and generative AI services on the Google platform.
Requirements
- 1-3 years’ of hands on/proven experience in designing, developing and deploying of code
- 1 year of cloud technology experience, GCP preferred
- Proficiency in C and .NET framework, Python, JavaScript
- Experience with Relational database (SQLserver/PostgreSQL)
- Experience with version control (GIT)
- Some exposure to generative AI development
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes
Responsibilities
- Designs/develops/tests/implements improvements or new features in our core code deployment tools and supporting applications, based on the functional and technical specifications
- Designs/develops/tests/implements new features using the Google Cloud Platform
- Designs/develops/tests/implements new services that interact with various generative AI models hosted on Google Cloud and on-premises
- Responsible for adhering to coding standards and the approved technologies
- Unit tests all changes on development, and then works with the appropriate Business and/or Technology Owner(s) to ensure that the developed solution meets the business requirements
- Assists in the QA process
- Participates, as required, in Production deployment, providing instructions and support for deploying the code changes successfully, and for Smoke Testing code post-release

- Communicates development progress daily to the senior-level team members
- Attends to any work items assigned through the internal case system in a timely fashion
- Takes ownership of work items assigned, communicates estimates and daily progress as part of the SDLC process, and actively works to resolve issues blocking progress

- Develops and maintains a positive relationship with other team members
