Schwab’s AI Strategy & Transformation team (AI.x) is looking to hire an AI Engineer to help set the enterprise vision for AI, invest in promising opportunities, accelerate delivery across the company, build the core platform that powers AI at scale, and explore next-generation GenAI efforts that will redefine how they serve their clients.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development experience and 3+ years as a hands-on engineer in startups and/or large organizations.
  • 3+ years of experience building complex products from scratch and supporting them in production environments.
  • 1+ years of experience developing applications that use Artificial Intelligence (AI) models to deliver business impact.
  • 2+ years of experience working with applications or data pipelines that interface with large datasets.
  • 2+ years of experience with containers and cloud-native applications, with exposure to deploying them in the public cloud using infrastructure as code.
  • Exposure to proprietary or open-source LLMs (Gemini, Claude, OpenAI or other models) and contributing to LLM-powered applications.
  • Experience evaluating and monitoring LLM-generated outputs for quality and consistency.

Other

  • This role is based on-site in our San Francisco office.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Strong communication skills – able to clearly share your perspective with others on the team, both verbally and in writing.
  • Interest in mentoring peers and learning from senior engineers through feedback and code reviews.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
