Microsoft's Developer Division is looking to improve developer productivity through AI advancements, building on successes like GitHub Copilot and other Microsoft Copilots. They are seeking an Applied Researcher to lead research projects that translate into product features, specifically focusing on applying and advancing Large Language Models (LLMs) for software engineering.
Requirements
- 1+ year(s) of experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Experience publishing academic papers as a lead author or essential contributor
- Experience participating in a top conference in relevant-research domain
Responsibilities
- Build and train state-of-the-art models
- Apply and advance existing approaches of using Large Language Models (LLMs) for software engineering, from using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to evaluation
- Run experiments, evaluate, iterate and improve AI projects on a large scale
- Contribute knowledge around several specialized tools to support planning for AI research projects
- Create new datasets from both the world's public code and Microsoft's internal data
- Build and manage large-scale Machine Learning (ML) experiments and models
Other
- Master's Degree in relevant field AND 1+ year(s) related research experience OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Doctorate in relevant field OR equivalent experience.
