Xcel Energy is seeking an intern to support the reliability of the electric distribution system and contribute to electric reliability, power quality, system protection, and plant betterment.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in an ABET accredited electrical or mechanical engineering program
- Able to commute to 790 S. Buchanan Amarillo, TX or 4201 Frankford Lubbock, TX
- Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) and part time during the school semester (up to 20 hours a week)
- 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher sophomore or junior
- Completed 2 years of undergraduate coursework, including classes in mathematics, physics and basic electric circuits
- Experience or Proficiency with Microsoft office suite
Responsibilities
- Work with the Engineering staff to support the reliability of the electric distribution system
- Work as an entry level engineer doing tasks that support electric reliability, power quality, system protection and plant betterment to improve the electric distribution system
- Gain significant professional confidence and people skills through practical operations experience and mentoring
