Calvary Street Property Management is seeking a Personal Care Aide to provide care and well-being to residents with kindness, excellent communication, and teamwork
Requirements
- Valid Certified Nursing Assistant Certification or D.C Home Health Aide Certification
- Valid First Aid/CPR certifications; training provided
- Basic understanding of medical terminology
- Proficient in the English language
Responsibilities
- Care for patients by changing bed linens, washing and ironing laundry, cleaning, bathing, or assisting with personal care
- Maintain records of patient care, conditions, progress, or problems to report and discusses observations with Facility Resident Care Coordinator or supervising RN
- Assists with all of the care needs a resident might require
- Check patients’ pulse, temperature, and respiration
- Administer prescribed oral medications as prescribed by physician or as directed by home care nurse or aide, and ensure patients take their medicines
- Massage patients or apply preparations or treatments such as liniment, alcohol rubs, or heat-lamp stimulation
- Direct patients in simple prescribed exercises or in the use of braces or artificial limbs
Other
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1 year of previous experience
- Must possess a strong service orientation, including active listening, critical thinking skills, and close monitoring of clients
- Ability to entertain, converse with, or read aloud to patients to keep them mentally healthy and alert
- Ability to provide patients and families with emotional support and instruction
