The Office of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is looking to analyze and improve business processes using Microsoft Automation Tools to identify inefficiencies and recommend automation solutions, thereby streamlining workflow and enhancing operational efficiency.
Requirements
- AI tools and mapping processes.
- Applying process improvement methodologies.
- Analyze business processes, identify inefficiencies, provide troubleshooting support, and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Create and present proposals.
- Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Research AI cases in public sector operations and assist with drafting and presenting AI Project Proposal Submission forms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to map workflows, identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend automation, gather and validate requirements with stakeholders, share insights in meetings, and refine solutions with IT and business teams based on feedback and evolving needs.
- Assist in documenting process improvements, creating user guides and technical documentation, assisting with testing and user acceptance and tracking performance metrics.
- Investigate user-friendly applications with PowerApps to enhance data entry, reporting, and streamline processes through interactive forms and dashboards connected to backend data sources.
- Research and recommend automation technologies (e.g., RPA, AI-driven solutions).
- Support the implementation of automation pilots and track performance metrics.
- Assist in documenting process improvements/ SOPs for AI-enhanced dashboards and predictive maintenance tools and providing support during testing and implementation.
Other
- Currently pursuing or completed a degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Coursework in applying AI to business processes is preferred.
- Temporary in nature and is on-site in Austin, Texas for 15 hours per week during regular business hours.
