Cognizant is looking for an experienced AS/400 RPG Developer to lead the design, development, and optimization of IBM i applications to enhance system functionality, streamline IT service processes, and support evolving business requirements.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in IBM i (AS/400) environment, including RPG (RPG III, RPG IV / ILE RPG) and CL programming.
- Experience with DB2/400 and SQL for database design, queries, and optimization.
- Hands-on knowledge of ILE concepts such as service programs, binding directories, and modular programming.
- Expertise in modern RPG techniques (free-format RPG, embedded SQL, modular coding practices).
- Ability to analyze, design, develop, and maintain applications on the IBM i platform.
- Familiarity with integration technologies such as APIs, web services, and data exchange between IBM i and external systems.
- Strong debugging and performance tuning skills for RPG programs and batch processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of AS/400 RPG applications to meet business needs.
- Oversee the implementation of RPGLE solutions, ensuring adherence to coding best practices and quality standards.
- Provide technical expertise in DB2/400 database management, focusing on performance optimization and data integrity.
- Collaborate with IT service management teams to improve processes and enhance service delivery.
- Analyze system requirements and create detailed technical specifications for new projects.
