General Motors is looking to solve complex production and operational challenges by implementing and executing established business processes, fostering teamwork, and ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and cost requirements within their manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years Manufacturing or Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Manufacturing supervisory experience
  • Ability to manage Manufacturing Operations and work with cross-functional teams
  • High level of analytical ability
  • Ability to lead teams towards resolution of highly unusual and complex quality and build issues

Responsibilities

  • Implement and execute the established business process for an area of greater complexity in the production operations
  • Support the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment
  • Participate in training and developing of salaried and hourly employees, and in the development of highly effective teams
  • Support Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes across multiple departments
  • Serve as a resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas
  • Help to meet or exceed production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements
  • Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements

  • Fostering an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation
  • Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS; focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE)
  • Possess the ability to deal with complex problems
  • Maintain awareness of quality standards, and communicates department quality goals, and utilizes resources to solve quality issues
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union and management
  • Understands and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union
  • Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping
  • Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods
  • Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Tonawanda on a full-time basis.
