The C. T. Bauer College of Business and the Cullen College of Engineering at the University of Houston are seeking a tenure-track Presidential Frontier Faculty to work on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Energy Systems, with a focus on impactful, interdisciplinary scholarship at the intersection of AI and energy.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. (or A.B.D.) in business, engineering, or economics
  • Strong potential for, or a demonstrated record of, securing external research funding in areas related to AI, energy systems, and digital innovation
  • Experience with AI, energy systems, and digital innovation
  • Knowledge of business model innovation, responsible and ethical AI deployment, carbon and broader environmental market forecasting, sustainable energy transitions, and the integration of digital technologies in energy policy, operations, and market design
  • Programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB
  • Experience with data analysis and machine learning algorithms
  • Familiarity with energy systems, markets, and policies

Responsibilities

  • Pursue impactful, interdisciplinary scholarship at the intersection of AI and energy
  • Encompassing but not limited to business model innovation, responsible and ethical AI deployment, carbon and broader environmental market forecasting, sustainable energy transitions, and the integration of digital technologies in energy policy, operations, and market design
  • Secure external research funding in areas related to AI, energy systems, and digital innovation
  • Conduct cutting-edge research in areas that include sustainability, healthcare, AI, platform design, and supply chain
  • Teach and develop courses in areas related to AI, energy systems, and digital innovation
  • Collaborate with faculty members from the Decision and Information Sciences department and the Cullen College of Engineering
  • Develop and maintain a research program that aligns with the university's strategic priorities
