Youngstown State University (YSU) needs to expand its academic offerings and research capabilities in biostatistics and health data science, particularly with applications in AI for healthcare, to enhance student learning and contribute to regional development.
Requirements
- PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a related field earned or to be completed by the time of appointment
- Strong interest in graduate scholarship
- evidence of excellent teaching
- commitment to conducting scholarly research
- Background in statistical consulting and data analysis
- understanding of AI applications in health care
- research area is biostatistics or health data science with experience in the use of AI in health care settings
Responsibilities
- Teaches undergraduate and/or graduate courses to include biostatistics or health data science
- pursues appropriate scholarship
- participates in department, college and university service activities
- teaches courses and directs graduate projects in health data science and AI through NEOMED, the Northeast Ohio Medical University
- Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success
- Responds to students in a timely manner
- Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources

- Full-time Faculty
- Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.
- Position will work on both YSU campus and NEOMED campus.
- Passionate about working with undergraduate and master level students on research projects and for participating in the YSU Data Mine.
