The Christman Company is looking for Assistant Project Engineer Interns to support the construction project team and gain hands-on experience during project planning and/or construction phases.

Requirements

  • Previous work or internship experience in the commercial construction industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction management services and technology applications
  • Familiarity with document control and management, cost tracking, and schedule updates
  • Understanding of specification books and compliance
  • Experience with contract drawings and trade contractor document updates
  • Knowledge of safety practices and protocols
  • Familiarity with logistics process for safety initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.
  • Assists with Request for Information (RFI), document control and management, creation and tracking of submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updates
  • Assist in summarizing important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.
  • Reads through and understands specification books to ensure compliance and project quality
  • Assist the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections, create project-specific inspection log according to Christman standards, establish relationships with inspectors, schedule inspections, and ensure readiness for inspection.
  • Assist in updating contract drawings to reflect all approved changes and ensure trade contractor document updates.
  • Assist Superintendents with daily reports and manage all progress and quality photos.

Other

  • Active, full-time Sophomore-Senior level student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Shows participation and/or leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular club activities.
  • Ability to model safety awareness and planning at all times
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support team members
