Texas A&M University is looking to solve problems related to tropical atmospheric physics and dynamics, including the organization of tropical convection, the spatial footprint of extreme weather events, and monsoon low-pressure systems.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences or closely related field
- Relevant post-doctoral professional experience in analyzing tropical atmospheric physics and dynamics phenomena
- Experience in processing simulations from high-resolution weather and climate models
- Publishing peer-reviewed articles
- Proficiency in statistical data analysis and processing of netCDF files
- Ability to develop new code/algorithms for data analysis
Responsibilities
- Carrying out statistical analysis of observational datasets.
- Carries out post-processing and visualization of numerical model output.
- Lead preparation of manuscripts based on results obtained from research projects.
- Contribute to collaborative manuscripts.
- Present research results at conferences.
- Submit research proposals as the lead PI for continued support.
- Develops new code/algorithms for data analysis.
Other
- Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences or closely related field
- Ability to sit for extended periods (e.g., 6–8 hours/day)
- Visual acuity to read computer screens and documents
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
