The Sacramento Kings are seeking a Data Scientist to contribute to cutting-edge basketball analysis, research, and systems. As an Associate Basketball Data Scientist, you’ll dive into rich datasets, build models that uncover critical insights, and help shape the future of the team.
Requirements
- Knowledge of and experience working with sports data and analytics
- Proficiency with R or Python, including data manipulation and model development
- Experience in statistical modeling techniques
- Experience with relational databases and SQL
Responsibilities
- Provide analysis and reporting for stakeholders such as scouts, coaches, and executives
- Perform and present research projects in a concise, straightforward manner
- Clean, organize, and manage basketball datasets
- Collaborate with the analytics team on building internal tools and systems
Other
- Complete general Basketball Operations duties as required
- Ability to work independently and under deadlines, and relate to and communicate effectively with people of varied backgrounds (programmers, analysts, outside data vendors, other front office members)
- Ability to work evening, weekend and holiday hours (as dictated by the basketball calendar)
- Willingness and ability to relocate to Sacramento and work on-site in the Kings Basketball Operations offices
