The Hartford is seeking to build careers in Data Engineering to support the development of critical data assets and provide development support on The Hartford's critical data assets.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of in SQL and at least one additional functional or object-oriented programming language such as R or Python
  • Programming experience in a college and group settings
  • Desired candidates have prior Data Analysis and/or Data Engineer competencies
  • Knowledge of data pipelines build using Python, ETL, PL/SQL and cloud native technologies
  • Experience with Informatica, B2B, PL/SQL, Hadoop, etc…
  • Experience with data mining and Business Intelligence tools
  • Experience with cloud native technologies

Responsibilities

  • Utilize tools such as Informatica, B2B, PL/SQL, Hadoop, etc… to develop data assets that support organizational decision making via prototyping, data discovery, profiling, etc.
  • Leverage data mining and Business Intelligence tools to analyze large amounts of data identifying relationships and patterns within the data
  • Solve a range of core business and technical questions through data analysis
  • Engage in work that is guided by more senior members of the team
  • Build and utilize data pipelines build using Python, ETL, PL/SQL and cloud native technologies to develop data assets that support organizational decision making via prototyping, data discovery, profiling, etc.
  • Participate in immersive instructor led training relative to data engineering and The Hartford’s best practices
  • Partner with various parts of the organization to build a working knowledge of the organization, business, processes, and its customers

Other

  • Bachelor's degree – May 2026 graduates
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (out of 4.0 scale) at the time of graduation
  • Desired majors include, but are not limited to: Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Applied Mathematics, and Business
  • Ability to plan time and organize priorities, and pivot to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organization skills
