The AES Corporation is seeking an Associate Developer to support and lead the management of development activities for early-mid-late stage solar and solar + energy storage projects within the Arizona and Nevada markets, as well as national Tribal projects. The role involves coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met, risks are mitigated, and project returns are maximized, contributing to AES's goal of shaping a cleaner, more sustainable future and meeting net-zero goals.

Requirements

  • Support establishment and maintenance of preliminary project schedules (Microsoft Project/P6).
  • Implement and maintain project task management system, including but not limited to engineering, estimating, commercial curve, financial model, and P6 scheduling requests.
  • Assist with financial modeling and analysis by compiling data, coordinating with SMEs, and ensuring project inputs are up to date
  • Assist land and real estate teams in the acquisition of development assets, on an as needed basis, by researching land records and reviewing and understanding real property agreements, including but not limited to, option agreements, purchase/lease agreements, rights-of-way agreements, easements, ALTA surveys, legal descriptions, and title reports.
  • Support the Interconnection team with interconnection applications, review and analysis of large generator interconnection procedures and timelines, interconnection study reviews and analysis, material modification assessments, and interconnection and transmission strategy.
  • Research emerging renewable energy markets including but not limited to reviewing and analyzing utilities’ Integrated Resource Plans (IRPs) to support identification of new development prospects and meet project filing goals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBase, Box, SharePoint, Ironclad, and Microsoft Project.

Responsibilities

  • Support and lead management of development activities for early-mid-late stage solar and solar + energy storage projects within the Arizona and Nevada markets as well as national Tribal projects; may support and lead 1-3 projects with oversight by manager; limited travel for projects may be required on an as needed basis.
  • Coordinate with internal subject matter experts (SMEs), including but not limited to land, real estate, permitting, engineering, environmental, interconnection, commercial, insurance, tax, legal, finance, pre-construction, execution, and procurement teams, as well as outside consultants, on an as needed basis, to ensure that projects are meeting development milestones, development risks are being mitigated, and project returns are maximized.
  • Support establishment and maintenance of project budgets; tracking and management of project spend (PRs/POs/Invoices); and establishment and maintenance of preliminary project schedules (Microsoft Project/P6).
  • Maintain development asset database with project inputs and status updates, including but not limited to coordinating regularly with SMEs to maintain project risk registers and commercial readiness activities.
  • Implement and maintain project task management system, including but not limited to engineering, estimating, commercial curve, financial model, and P6 scheduling requests.
  • Assist with financial modeling and analysis by compiling data, coordinating with SMEs, and ensuring project inputs are up to date
  • Support the Interconnection team with interconnection applications, review and analysis of large generator interconnection procedures and timelines, interconnection study reviews and analysis, material modification assessments, and interconnection and transmission strategy.

Other

  • This is a remote position; however, the ideal candidate will be based in Arizona to better align with the team's needs.
  • There will be 10-15% travelling to project sites.
  • Support relationships with local, state, and federal authorities having jurisdiction, including but not limited to municipal, county, state, and tribal authorities, on an as needed basis, to ensure projects are obtaining all possible incentives and have good standing within the local communities.
  • Collaborate with and support SMEs as well as outside consultants, on an as needed basis, with research and analysis; coordinating and running in-person/virtual meetings or phone calls; and tracking project progress to provide up to date project information.
  • Support the Utility and Commercial Power Marketing teams, on an as needed basis, with RFP responses and other off-taker outreach.
