Newell Brands seeks an Associate Industrial Designer to drive new product innovation by integrating cutting-edge technologies, including generative AI and emerging design tools, into the design workflow to create concepts that deliver real-world value across various consumer product categories.
Requirements
- Strong 2D Design skills including essential sketching and Gen AI exploration. Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, Midjourney, Vizcom or equivalents.
- Working 3D Design skills with basic CAD modeling, surfacing, rendering, and NURBS. Proficient with SolidWORKS, Rhino, Keyshot, Kaedim or equivalents.
- Utilizes clear Design Context with compelling prompts and basic LLM use. Proficient with ChatGPT, MS CoPilot.
- Working knowledge of Design Feasibility with basic materials and manufacturing understanding.
- Basic Motion Design for animations and video content supporting product storytelling. Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, Runway or equivalents.
- Demonstrates Aesthetic Sensibilities through product form, detailing, and CMF with ability to rationalize concept selection.
- Shows Consumer Empathy through designs informed by articulated and unarticulated insights.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of new product concepts through sketching, 3D modeling, rendering, and prototyping.
- Translate design briefs, consumer insights, and trend research into compelling product ideas.
- Assist in the creation of design presentations and storytelling materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Marketing, Insights) to refine designs for feasibility and manufacturability.
- Build study models and mockups to explore form, ergonomics, and usability.
- Ensure design intent is carried through during development, supporting senior designers as needed.
- Develop proficiency in digital design tools (2D + 3D) and continuously expand technical skills.
Other
- Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design
- 0 -3 years of relevant experience in corporate or consulting design
