Verisk – Extreme Event Solutions’ growing Research and Modeling Department is looking for individuals to join their Financial and Uncertainty Modeling team to analyze insurance claims data from catastrophic events, test new methodologies, and solve problems using technical and analytical skills.
Requirements
- Basic programming knowledge required
- familiarity with R or similar statistical language is preferred
- Knowledge of SQL is a plus
- Background in data science/machine learning highly desired
- Experience with any of the following would be a big plus: insurance claim data, insurance policy conditions, actuarial science, database management
Responsibilities
- Analyze insurance claims data from catastrophic events such as hurricanes, earthquakes, flood, and severe thunderstorms
- Test accuracy of new methodologies by writing code in R or C++ and run simulations
- Document results
- Present findings concisely and create clear visualizations
- Assist the client services team in explaining methodology and answering client questions
Other
- Graduate degree in a quantitative field, such as data science, statistics, mathematics, or computer science, with 2-3 years of professional experience with data analytics projects is required
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, a solid understanding of probability concepts, and excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are required
- Ability to work independently or with a team
