Southwest Airlines is looking to hire Associate Software Engineers through their Direct College Hire Program to help design, code, test, document, and implement well-integrated application systems in accordance with customer requirements and standards, ensuring technology operates as expected in an agile environment with continuous deployment.
Requirements
- Preferred knowledge and/or experience with AWS Fundamentals, including Lambda, Fargate, DynamoDB, and/or SQS
- Preferred skills with Java Programming, including OOP principles and Java 8+ features (e.g. Streams, Lambda Expressions)
- Preferred knowledge of Salesforce
- Preferred JavaScript Programming experience
- Preferred knowledge of Spring Boot for REST API development & dependency injection and configuration
- Preferred knowledge of Kafka, including an understanding of producer-consumer model and message-driving architecture
- Preferred experience with Git (clone, commit, push, pull, branching) and GitLab workflows
Responsibilities
- designing, coding, testing, documenting, and implementing well-integrated application systems in accordance with Customer requirements and standards
- These roles are involved in an agile environment with continuous deployment to ensure technology operates as expected.
- Apply knowledge and skills of software development and testing to solve a range of problems
- Troubleshoot program and system malfunctions to restore normal functioning across environments, including production
- Evaluate code to ensure that it is valid, is properly structured, and meets industry standards
- Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
- Contribute to Team-level technical discussion and decisions and identify opportunities for Team improvement

- This role allows for voluntary remote work for the majority of your working time within the Dallas-Fort Worth area, with occasional on-site presence at our Corporate Campus for training, meetings, and business needs.
- This role may also require limited travel for business purposes.
