Haworth is looking for an Associate Product Engineer to support the design and development of custom and non-standard products that drive a significant portion of their North American sales. This role involves evaluating feasibility, determining costs, and delivering timely responses to support project bids, while ensuring designs meet customer specifications and manufacturing standards.
Requirements
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Creo) with the ability to model complex assemblies and components.
- Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes, particularly in wood (laminate and veneer), sheet metal, aluminum extrusions, and steel.
- Ability to work independently while knowing when to seek input or support from others.
- Open to change and capable of balancing day-to-day business support with continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology.
- Prior experience in commercial or contract furniture product development; understanding customizations.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical degree in relevant field of study
Responsibilities
- Provide support in preparing basic engineering documentation, such as Engineering Change Orders and test reports, under guidance.
- Assist senior engineers in analyzing product designs, conducting basic calculations, and researching materials and manufacturing processes.
- Assist with the assembly of prototypes, conduct basic tests, and document results under supervision.
- Develop foundational understanding of industry standards and best practices in product design, materials, and manufacturing.
- Develop an understanding of engineering principles and their application to product design and development.
- Uses office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
- Performs other duties within scope as assigned.

- 2 or more years of Product Engineering experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, with strong problem-solving skills and comfort with ambiguity.
