The Audio Media Technologies Group (AMT) at Apple is looking to solve the problem of providing high-quality audio foundation across all of Apple's innovative products, including AirPods, by hiring an Audio QA test engineer to develop testing solutions and enhance quality initiatives.

Requirements

  • Advanced understanding of macOS and iOS platforms
  • Expertise in Audio Testing, isolating issues, devising test plans, driving to specifications
  • Familiarity with real-time audio handling (sample rates, buffering, PCM, drivers, etc.)
  • Proficient in using Python and command line interfaces
  • Knowledge of Apple software developer tools (Xcode, Objective-C)
  • Foundational understanding of electronics, audio technology, and recording studios
  • Experience with FPGAs, development boards preferred

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the quality and testing of Apple AirPods products
  • Work with peer groups to understand the needs, challenges and existing tools and be involved in defining and updating team test plans, test cases, processes and procedures
  • Take existing test cases and test suites and architecting automation plans
  • Qualify audio drivers, firmware and audio subsystems using manual test passes and applying subjective measures of Audio Quality on the AirPods products
  • Build plans to automate test suites
  • Present and communicate testing progress, issues found, and champion the improved quality of test areas
  • Lead test areas and work well on a team and on own

Other

  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Audio Engineering or Music Technology
  • 5+ years experience in audio test engineering
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal & written
  • Attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies into effective audio testing
