The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is looking to advance the safety, efficiency, and modernization of the National Airspace System (NAS) through the Brand New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) contract, and Peraton is seeking an Automation Developer (SME) to support this effort.
Requirements
- Experience in software development and systems automation.
- Hands-on experience with automated testing, validation, and compliance checks.
- Expertise in scripting and programming languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Java, or Go).
- Proven experience developing automation for CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps workflows.
- Strong hands-on experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or Puppet).
- Knowledge of federal cybersecurity frameworks (NIST RMF, FedRAMP, Zero Trust).
- Experience automating deployments in cloud and hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement custom automation solutions for systems and processes.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and integrate automation into development and operations workflows.
- Create and optimize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates and configuration scripts.
- Collaborate with architects, system engineers, and cybersecurity teams to ensure secure integration of automation tools.
- Provide SME-level guidance on automation tools, languages, and frameworks to program teams.
- Develop automated testing frameworks for performance, scalability, and compliance validation.
- Ensure automation solutions align with FAA standards, federal requirements (NIST, RMF, FedRAMP), and Zero Trust principles.

- Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience or Masters degree and 10 years or or Associate’s degree and 14 years’ experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 16 years experience.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with engineers and architects.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
