Garmin International is seeking a full-time Aviation Systems Engineer Intern to support the conception, development, and application of sophisticated avionics systems
Requirements
- Completed coursework in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent education or experience
- Experience and/or training in working with cross functional teams
- Previous experience working with avionics products and/or designing electrical systems
- Programming skills in languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations such as DO-178C and DO-254
Responsibilities
- Support engineers to maintain and communicate requirements, allocate requirements among subsystems, and assure compatibility among subsystems so that the product ultimately meets its final objectives
- Participate in product design activities including electrical, software, or mechanical development
- Conduct verification and validation testing in accordance with formal or informal test plans
- Work with customers and project engineers by assisting with development of concepts for complex products including product definition, feasibility study, and market analysis
- Help research emerging technologies and components which have potential to provide a competitive advantage
- Generate test plans for verification of customer requirements which may include generation of automated scripts
- Work with internal engineering teams and OEM partners to plan, design and develop security architectures to meet certification and business requirements

- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and strong analytical skills
- Other education and/or experiences as required for the specific projects being developed
- Pilot’s License
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams
