LPL Financial is seeking a result-driven and goal-oriented Assistant Vice President (AVP) Tech Lead to create highly available and performant systems for their Investment Management and Trading team. The role involves transforming and modernizing existing trading platforms by integrating current business and technology concepts with innovative design to deliver a practical and scalable cloud-native and on-prem services.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience with designing scalable APIs using containers over Docker/Kubernetes.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience with event driven architecture and stream processing with Kafka or similar technologies.
- 6+ years of related experience in capital markets with a strong understanding of trading intraday flows and financial industry.
- Extensive experience with the following technologies: .NET core, containers, Kubernetes, Postgres/MongoDB, AWS/Azure with Kubernetes and Docker, Microservices, Angular, Typescript,
- Familiarity with caching techniques and stores such as Elasticache, Redis, GridGain, etc.
- Extensive experience with front-end platform Angular and Nx.Js along with tests platform such as Cypress, Jest, etc.
- Strong background on improving application resiliency, scalability and overall system performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead a tech team to design, develop, test and implement highly available and scalable technical solutions based on business requirements and strategic direction.
- Code and implement guardrails to enable self-service and frictionless delivery allowing teams to build and own end-to-end applications and services in the cloud.
- Provide technical leadership to teammates through technical design and implementation of industry best practices adhering to LPL’s modernization practices, cloud practices, SDLC and release management processes.
- Provide production support, maintain, troubleshoot, optimize and enhance trading platforms/applications.
- Ensure service level agreements and contingency activities are covered related to system/application availability ensuring zero Advisor experience disruption.
- Designing, architecting, and developing cloud-native and on-prem services to support LPL’s overall strategy and transformation.
- Formulating workable solutions to complex challenges, logically deliberating on courses of action by examining and challenging assumptions, discerning hidden value, objectively evaluating evidence, and assessing conclusions.

- 8+ years of progressive experience in owning and driving full stack applications as hands on Engineering Tech Lead - guiding, solutioning, delivering and documenting team’s development efforts towards successful project delivery and application support.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both technical and non-technical.
- Strong estimation, foresight, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interface effectively with senior SVP/EVP level executives and business stake holders.
- Experience working with offshore teams and contingent workers.
