GovCIO is looking to hire a Back-End Data/Infrastructure Engineer to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient data flow across platforms and enable insightful business intelligence for the VA.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Azure Data Factory, including pipeline orchestration, linked services, datasets, and triggers.
- Strong knowledge of T-SQL, relational databases (e.g., Azure SQL, SQL Server), and performance tuning.
- Experience with SHIR setup and troubleshooting for hybrid data integration.
- Familiarity with Power BI data modeling, DAX calculations, and report performance optimization.
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred), data security, and access management.
- Experience with CI/CD for data pipelines, version control (e.g., Git), and deployment automation is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and workflows using Azure Data Factory (ADF) to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data across cloud and on-premises sources.
- Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models to support high-performance data operations and analytics.
- Configure and manage Self-Hosted Integration Runtime (SHIR) for secure data movement between on-premises and cloud environments.
- Implement and support data infrastructure solutions, ensuring scalability, availability, and performance across environments.
- Assist in development and refine new data sources and reports available to VA.
- Assist in testing and the creation of test cases.
- Work closely with data analysts and business users to provide Power BI datasets, calculated columns, and optimized queries for reporting and visualization.

- Ability to obtain and maintain a suitability/Public Trust clearance.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with an ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security standards, and best practices in both development and deployment processes.
- Assist in developing security and accessibility of the information provided through Access to Care reporting, to implement cyber security, and comply with 508 and other relevant regulations/requirements.
