Microsoft Entra (Azure Active Directory) is at the center of Microsoft's cloud strategy, building and operating critical authentication, authorization, and directory services used by millions worldwide. The company is seeking a Back-End Software Engineer II to help build these identity services, ensuring secure, scalable, and resilient authentication and authorization systems for Microsoft's cloud ecosystem.
Requirements
- 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, C, C++, C, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience designing, developing, or maintaining secure software systems, with applied knowledge of authentication, data protection, access control, and secure coding practices
- 2+ years of experience designing, building, and operating scalable, highly available cloud services or distributed systems on platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP, or comparable cloud environments, with production ownership and CI/CD pipeline integration.
- 2+ years of experience applying distributed systems concepts such as concurrency, conflict resolution, and consensus algorithms to build resilient and maintainable back-end architectures.
- 2+ years of experience building systems with emphasis on reliability, durability, and operational efficiency, including experience with live site operations, incident response, and performance optimization.
- 2+ years of experience programming in modern back-end languages such as C, Java, Go, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.

- Design and operate secure, scalable, and resilient authentication and authorization systems.
- Build the identity services that power Microsoft's cloud ecosystem, including Azure, Microsoft 365, Xbox, and Windows.
- Work on global-scale distributed systems.
- Deepen expertise in cloud security.
- Contribute to services that balance simplicity with enterprise-grade reliability.
- Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
- Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
