WindBorne Systems is looking to solve the problem of weather uncertainty by analyzing and processing large amounts of weather data to generate accurate weather forecasts and intelligence.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Python
- Experience with backend engineering for large-scale data systems
- Familiarity with Ruby and Rust
- Ability to design high-reliability, low-latency systems
- Understanding of or interest in weather and geospatial datasets
- Familiarity with scientific computing and numerical methods
- Ability to efficiently transfer data from machine to machine and from disk to memory and back
Responsibilities
- Engineering the backbone of weather forecasts and insight
- Building pipelines to analyze global datasets
- Serving data in a high-reliability, low-latency way to customers
- Creating a flexible, scalable system to pump huge amounts of weather and geospatial data through and recombine dynamically to meet user requirements
- Designing high-reliability, low-latency systems
- Working on the backend of forecasts and insights products
- Owning and leading projects in cooperation with the CPO
Other
- 2–3 years of post-graduate work experience contributing to and maintaining enterprise-scale codebases
- Comfortable working as an individual contributor
- Excited to spend most of the day hands-on coding
- Ability to own and lead projects in close collaboration with product leadership
