Keepsafe Software is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems that support their consumer privacy applications, serving millions of daily active users and ensuring the privacy and security of personal data.
Requirements
- Proficiency in backend development with Python 3.x
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and understanding of API gateway solutions
- Strong knowledge of database systems including PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Couchbase, and Redis
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS (preferred) or GCP, including container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker
- Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation scripting (Python, Bash)
- Understanding of security best practices, cryptography, and identity management (OAuth, IAM, SSO)
- Knowledge of message queues and event-driven architectures (SQS, Pub/Sub)
Responsibilities
- Serve and support millions of users daily, ensuring high performance and reliability of backend services
- Design, develop, and own significant components of the backend infrastructure and codebase
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs supporting iOS and Android applications
- Implement scalable database solutions and optimize data storage and retrieval processes
- Assist in scaling infrastructure to support user growth and feature expansion
- Implement security measures, cryptography, and privacy-focused features within backend systems
- Work with DevOps teams to automate deployment, monitoring, and incident response
Other
- Minimum of 2 years of full-time experience in software engineering or related fields
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate ownership, and iterate rapidly on product features
- Interest or experience in security engineering and cryptography is a plus
- Remote work flexibility with in-person onboarding in the San Francisco Bay Area
