Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Python or a similar programming language.
- Experience with SQL and relational database management.
- Solid understanding of system design, performance tuning, and scalable architecture.
- Experience with cloud platforms and modern development tools is a plus.
- 8+ years of experience in software development, with a proven track record of delivering complex backend systems.
- Ability to mentor and guide engineering team members to foster a strong product-minded engineering culture.
- Experience with designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend components.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end delivery of backend product features that support content creation and engagement on Patreon.
- Design and implement scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend components.
- Ensure code quality through thorough testing, code reviews, and adherence to best practices.
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, designers, and engineers to define requirements and deliver high-impact features.
- Champion best practices in system design, performance, observability, and testing across the engineering team.
- Innovate and propose solutions that improve user experience, usability, and platform engagement.
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
