Beasley Forest Products is looking to solve the problem of efficiently cutting logs and lumber to specified sizes while maintaining production efficiency, quality, and safety standards in their sawmill operation.
Requirements
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, measurements, and specifications.
- Previous sawmill or machine operating experience strongly preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Operate the band saw to cut logs, cants, or lumber according to production specifications.
- Monitor saw operation to ensure accurate cuts and proper lumber dimensions.
- Inspect saw blades, guides, and equipment regularly; perform minor adjustments and report major issues to maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, following all mill safety procedures and lockout/tagout protocols.
- Detect and remove defective lumber or materials.
- Perform routine quality checks to ensure lumber meets standards.
- Assist with blade changes, tensioning, and preventative maintenance.
Other
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs as required.
- Comfortable working in noisy, dusty, and fast-paced environments
- Willingness to work in a physically demanding, industrial environment.
- Strong attention to safety and detail.
